The Earth-Guarding Warriors
Farmers in the province of Shaanxi dug for a well and accidentally discovered one of the greatest archaeological sites in 1974. Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor in Chinese history, beside the great success he achieved during his lifetime, left lots of secrets to be revealed after his death. The Great War and the Terracotta warriors buried around the site that might be his tomb are two great miracles. Time has erased the majestic glory of the Emperor, but the time revealed his mysterious tomb. Is it possible that for 2000 years no one has discovered these caves crammed with figures that cover nearly 10 000 m2 and are just 5m underground? In addition to the clay horsemen, horses and soldiers – the earth-guarding warriors, there was a large amount of real weapons found. These figures are the living proof of the strict hierarchy and regime that existed in the Qin dynasty. The terracotta warriors/army are named the 8th World wonder.
