Superheroes from the 50’s

We can call all of these characters forerunners of today’s Batman, Catwoman, Superman… One thing is specifically interesting about that, at least to me, and that is when you look and compare the old and the new ones, from this time distance, it kinda seems that those are completely different characters. Some children of today even think that Batman, Joker, Fantastic 4, and especially the Avengers didn’t exist until the movies came out. Pretty¬†embarrassing¬† I must say. Drawings and comics like these that you’ll see, are a matter of general culture everyone should posses.

I appreciate your work here, but there are some flaws with it. First the Avengers…at least the Marvel comics version is not a product of the 1950’s but rather the 1960’s. The same goes for the Fantastic Four, most of the Marvel comics super-heroes come from the 60’s during Stan Lee’s and Jack Kirby’s greatest years.
With your opening statement about the differences with some of the characters you did show and the current versions it would have been a bit more fitting if you had juxtaposed both the old guard vs the new, as a compare and contrast. Since one of your biggest problems with the current state of knowledge of folks who don’t know these characters the images don’t reflect your statement. The images you did post were nice, and some very good artwork. It just didn’t clarify any of your statements
