Somebody Put the Poison in Our Food
Time when almost everyone had its piece of land, growing plants, feeding some cattle and taking a good care of stuff he/she is going to eat is long gone. Now, when we live our life faster than ever and majority of population lives in cities, there is a negligible small number of people who still take care of their food and cultivate it for themselves. The rest of us eat things we can buy in market and prepare – if we have time for it, or maybe in restaurants, fast food stores… Have you ever wondered what is food we buy like? It is very disappointing when you discover there are very little products you can eat and not be afraid that something bad will happen to your organism. I’m sorry, but I’ll have to inform you that they are putting some really poisonous material in our food that can cause hyperactivity, asthma, cancer and many other, dangerous diseases. That may be the flavor enhancers, artificial flavors and colors, preservatives, etc and most of them have E- prefix. Here’s the list of the worst of those elements, most are even forbidden in some countries, but not in every, so please, pay attention next time you go shopping.
1. Beware of E102 – Tartrazine
It is artificial yellow color, a synthetic one, coal tar derived dye (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon). It can be found almost everywhere – in fizzy soft drinks puddings, soups, desserts, chewing fums, mustard, sauces… Because of the great possibility to provoke asthma attacks, hyperactivity in children’s behavior and even cancer, it is banned or restricted in some countries. Other, less serious negative effects on organism are itch, blurred vision, runny nose, migraine, irritability, etc. Caution – people who have sensitivity to aspirin should avoid it especially. Well if this is not enough for you to pay attention when buying anything yellow and avoid this additive, think again! It is proved that it can seriously damage our DNA, and we all know that it is something we forward to our children. Well, when you look it this way, it is not naive at all. this additive is banned in Austria and Norway, and limited use in Germany and Sweden. Additives like this, that are also very dangerous and forbidden are E 107 (Yellow 2G), E 104 (Quinoline Yellow) and E 105 (Fast Yellow AB or Acid Yellow).
2. Pay attention to E 120 – Carminic Acid
This additive can be found not only in food, but also in cosmetic products. It is a natural red color that is being made by crushing eggs and bodies of a cactus insect – Dactilopius Coccus (especially the pregnant ones that contain more of the dye) that lives in Central America. Though it is not so frequently used, it is recommended to avoid it.
